Port Wine Room, 2021
 Creating a Tile Design for the Port Wine Room



A Tribute to Port Wine

This room was decorated as a tribute to Port wine, an emblematic beverage of this region. The colors chosen for this tile design are the same as the casks and the wine. The main elements were also inspired by this theme.

Elements and Ornamentation
 The tile design choice of the ornaments was made accordingly, respecting the architectural elements of the room and creating unity in the space.


Moments Portrayed

 Throughout the tile design, the history of Port wine production is represented, from its vineyard landscapes to its transportation.

Main Decorative Tile Panel

 The tile design in the main panel is an interpretation and fusion of Portuguese tradition, Port wine, and the maritime theme of the sushi restaurant. The panel is inspired by the imaginary potential of Port wine, mixing elements like the merman wearing traditional Portuguese garments, with a Portuguese bonnet in his crown, or even the mermaid that reminds us of fado garments. One of the details that is highlighted is the mermaid’s earring, a heart from Viana, Portugal, in filigree. This tile design celebrates the Portuguese culture and Port wine, harmonizing with the rest of the restaurant’s theme.
