 Creating a Decorative Tile Panel for a Private House in Portugal


Introduction

 This decorative tile panel was conceived for a contemporary space. The client wanted the panel to create contrast with the minimalist style of the decor. It was important to create a distinctive feature while ensuring harmony with the chosen furniture.

A Warmer Palette

 Instead of using the traditional cobalt blue found in Portuguese tiles, we opted for a warmer tone since the panel was going to be installed in a living room. Although we chose brown as the main color, we still respected the traditional ornamental patterns of a typical Portuguese decorative tile panel.


Creative Freedom

 For this decorative tile panel, the client gave us total freedom to decide the design. We chose the parrots as the main elements, to be painted in scientific illustration. The color mixing, although uncommon, turned out to be harmonious. Everything was approved by the clients, making sure they were happy with our design before we started.

Enduring Decor

 By using tiles, we were able to decorate the space with a highly durable element. Unlike wall frescoes, which have a shorter lifespan, a decorative tile panel is a long-lasting alternative, maintaining its vibrant look over time both indoors or outdoors. This final photo is just a mockup, and we hope one day to have a photograph of the decorative tile panel fully installed with the final decor.
